Achieving Your Potential Part 11

Do I see the truth, or do I have blind spots? What is my perception of truth? Does it bless me or curse me? We have what is called Cognitive Dissonance- restraint and contradictory conflicting opinions and beliefs. We are not seeing the true picture God has painted for us, but we see the picture Satan has painted, it is more fun, anyone can do it. So please, “do not tell me what to do, and I will not tell you”, is what I hear to often in the Jails.

Gods Word never changes, it is the bases of all truth and we are seeing the Bible not being read so who do we obey. NO ONE! What is your self worth based upon, money, fame, who you are, or who God is? The total you is based upon your beliefs, who do you visualize becoming like MAN or GOD?

Let’s look at our habits and attitudes and see the need for simulators (Like the real thing) in our lives. Is it rationalization we base every thing on, I hope so. Is it logical and justifying to all around me? Like a Doctor that smokes, or a minister that cheats, and tells there clients not to. It takes a commitment to understand the truth, that we are all born sinners. That makes me want to, not have to change my habit, or attitude about the truth. I need to be born again into that child of Gods, not the enemies. Note what John 3 says:

Achieving Your Potential Part 10

Motivation is a Latin Verb; “MOVERE” meaning to move. It is an intense drive that causes action, or a reason to act, or behave. Need is a lack of something good and a drive is a tendency to act, in order to fill that need. I hope you’re seeing if you have to, you’re going to be unhappy, but if you want to, you’re blessed beyond measure.

Romans 8:13 (KJV) says, 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Romans 6:6 (KJV) Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Gal 6:16 (KJV)  And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

Do these verses motivate you to die out to self and life for God?

Can we see the importance of self denial and subduing the flesh in order to achieve our potential? The strongest verse in the Bible I think is Col 3:5 (KJV) 5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: To Mortify is taking the natural urges of man and resisting those areas that will sooner or latter destroy our character.

That is the reason we need to know what to lock on to, positives and lock out the negative areas of our life. Once we lock on to a principle, opinion, belief, or an attitude, we find it difficult to see or understand the truth of Gods Word. It is not what I think is the truth, or we develop scotomas, or blind spots, to new information. This then makes change difficult because of past experiences, and when the Lord wants to bless us in every area of our lives we can’t accept that truth.

Notice the attachment to friends, vocation, social prejudices, life styles, and habits some times cause no growth. That is the reason we need to choose our friends wisely, are they going to bless us, or damage our reputation?

What is very important is to see the things that we need to lock out, that hinder us from seeing the truth. List them:

Now look for some areas you need to lock onto, in your personal life, vocation, and social life. List them:
