What a week seeing OJ in the news again, seeing 1 million cribs from China recalled, Brittney Spears facing charges, Iran President Ahmadinejad giving a speech at Columbia College and hoping to see destruction of 9/11/01. Aids Vaccine failing, Israel strikes Syria for what reason? Man bites off ex wife’s finger, and present husbands ear. 39 people charged in global money laundering. Just to list a few of problems in America we all are facing. As we have been look ing at Nehemiah, I hope we are learning to observe what is going on, so we can help restore order where there is no order. Study to be confident, don’t get sleepy at the task, but work to make sure the truth is known, It is most difficult today to face the facts, and our salvation is build on facts; God is alive and has given us His Son, Jesus and His Holy Spirit, that we can worship in faith, feeling his presence every moment of the day. That is walking by faith not by sight, it’s an inward relationship that is seen by our actions, attitude and behavior. Pastor said, "it took 52 days to build the wall externally not internally", we are still building for the Lord internally. What we need to do is define our posture, to make sure others know what we are all about. That is standing firm upon the solid rock Christ Jesus with out wavering. Everyone in the kingdom of God is a laborer working for God, so we need to stand firm and many times stand alone. Everyone is on the payroll, either of the enemy, or of God, be sure your sins will find you out? We are all like Abraham on a journey not knowing where we are going. Gen 12:1-3 (NKJV) 1 Now the Lord had said to Abram: "Get out of your country, From your family And from your father's house, To a land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." Abraham is no different then we are; needing direction to help him find Gods best for his life and his family. He went down to the enemies camp but note Gen 13:1-4 Then Abram went up from Egypt, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, to the South. 2 Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold. 3 And he went on his journey from the South as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai, 4 to the place of the altar which he had made there at first. And there Abram called on the name of the Lord. Let’s make sure we never forget our first love and how the Lord reached down and took us out of this world into the Kingdom of God. Now we are not our own, but wanting to do the Lords will, by what we say and do. Even the disciples were asked not to speak in Jesus name, but they did in Acts 4:18-22 18 And they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. 20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard." 21 So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way of punishing them, because of the people, since they all glorified God for what had been done. 22 For the man was over forty years old on whom this miracle of healing had been performed. |

I attended a Crisis Incident Stress Management class, taught by the person who wrote the manual and there will always be the element of surprise. Look at what happen to the hurricane in Texas and the damage done by wind and rain . Look at what happen on Opera when see interviewed the wife of Matthew Winkler the minister after serving 7 months in prison. It was one of the most disrespectful interviews I have ever heard, to me as an individual. Then we had the killer, shooting four officers and killing one. Then this week we saw the President backing his military leaders and most of the Democrats not accepting the finding of the officers on the field. Who are we fighting is the question? The world will never quit trying to destroy the true Church that is you. Pastor Jon said, “those my age and older are tempted and we become Venerable to what we think, feel and say”. Let’s do some introspection and see what bothers us, who is our enemy. The glory of God needs to be glorifying not depressing. Nehemiah comes back and asses what is going on. He had already prayed so was prayed up, but now is the time for action. Let’s put God back into the Church, by making sure our attitude and behavior is positive, not negative. God is able if we are willing to follow His leading. Look at Heb 12:1-2 (NKJV) Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Are we working for God or Mankind? What really gets us, is our attitude and we need to surrender it to the Lord. Let’s throw out the negative and all those who would want to destroy us and the Church. Paul tells us in Col 3:5-6 (NKJV) Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, 7 in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. That is dying out to selfish desire instead and learning the power of mortification, renewing our minds. That is purifying your hearts you double minded. That is putting back truth into every area of our lives. That is letting the Lord come in and sprinkle you with the blood of the Lamb, to wash away your sins. Again in Hebrews 10:35-38 (NKJV) Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise: 37 "For yet a little while, And He who is coming will come and will not tarry. 38 Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him." Let’s receive God confidence by trusting the Lord and casting out sin in our lives by coming to the lamb of God, who washes away all sin. Lord Search my heart and see if there be some wicked way in me is my prayer. |

Nehemiah Rebuilding lives one at a time This Thursday and Friday I attended a Crisis Stress Management class called Terrorism: Psychological Impact and Implication in Seattle from Diane Myers, RN, MSN, CTS, she helped write along with David Wee the program for International Critical Incident Stress Foundation. Inc. She received her Master’s degree in psychiatric Mental Health Nurse and Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist from Yale University. She also has several advanced credential in traumatology, who’s in private practice as a psychotherapist, consultant, trainer and author. This was a timely subject dealing with Oklahoma Bombing, New York Twin Towers and what is going on now in our world, plus what we have and are still learning with Katrina. It sure did remind me of how important the Nehemiah’s of our world are today and the compliancy and denial we all face from time to time with opposition to reality. Now let’s get back to the subject of opposition as we look at Nehemiah. Throw the Tobiah’s out of the Temple. Nehemiah is full of Biblical principle for leadership but Pastor Jon would like us as a Church Body to see what we can gain from looking at his life. Here are my thoughts on what I heard and see in Nehemiah. We need to look around us and see what is going on in the Church that is causing the walls to come down of personal dedication to the Lord. “It is not my brother, or my sister, but it’s me oh Lord standing in the need of Prayer What we need to be doing is scattering the message of good news, Jesus saves, repent and be baptized. There are principles and patterns that we just must live out in everyday terms. Sinister people can destroy without even knowing what they are doing. Neh 2:10 (NKJV) 10 When Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite official heard of it, they were deeply disturbed that a man had come to seek the well-being of the children of Israel. We are seeing many within the Church that are really caught up in putting a stop to what God has in store for them. They do this in so many different ways such as not putting God first and doing what the ministers says, rather than what the Lord is telling them to do. Nehemiah had a mission to rebuild the walls and a few really did not like this. Do we want to see the Church grow tearing down the walls of sin that would bind people up? Here is the common thread that runs with those that fight against change; (complaining). All down through history people laugh and despise those wanting to do something positive in changing our world for the better. Does God change His mind about the mission of the Church! No, but were living in a society that likes change and many times it is hurting our communities our Churches and our homes. We hear more complaining because of divorce, addictions that separate us than what is good it seems in the Church world. Neh 2:18-20 (NKJV) So they said, "Let us rise up and build." Then they set their hands to this good work. 19 But when Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official, and Geshem the Arab heard of it, they laughed at us and despised us, and said, "What is this thing that you are doing? Will you rebel against the king?" 20 So I answered them, and said to them, "The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build, but you have no heritage or right or memorial in Jerusalem." Now we see the priest in Nehemiah 3:1 Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests and built the Sheep Gate; they consecrated it and hung its doors. They built as far as the Tower of the Hundred, and consecrated it, then as far as the Tower of Hananel. Notice he starts out right, by making sure the sheep gate was in proper working order for that is the gate all the sheep came through to be offered as a sacrifice. This was an important part of their sacrifice and like to day, coming together to worship and pray showing who we worship and have our faith in as we reverence God in the Church of God, making sure our body is in order. The Devil is against us building a foundation for our lives and would like to tear down the walls of freedom with in the Church. He would want us to only think of the bodies senses, or the souls senses of imagination, reason, conscience, affection and memory or Platonic dualism is a conflict between secular and spiritual. Let’s let God come into our world and let the world out of our lives, so we can be what God wants us to be. We have learned to communicate with the secular and can’t become Jesus to the people we work with. This is a shameful testimony of Gods power to renew a right spirit with in us. Do we want to grow, our stay the same in our commitment of love? |
