The question people ask is, “What do you do as a Chaplain?” I spend 35 hours a week dealing with the needs of residents, 3 hours in mandatory meetings and 3 hours counseling and Bible Study, 2 hours on Wednesdays and Thursdays preaching at the God Pod. Please pray that the Lord will use me as I minister to over 250 men and women incarcerated a week.People have the same needs as the community in which we live. As an instructor of Life Skills, I am able to quote scripture and talk about spiritual things teaching the following subjects: Family, social and spiritual concerns; Child & adult abuse issues; Sexual assault from both male and female; Sexual therapy; Marital and counseling therapy; Divorce and Step parenting issues; Incest issues; Infertility issues; Women and men issues outside marriage; Adolescent issues; Alternative life styles; Singles; Grief with the loss of loved ones and relationships; Life threatening issues and chronic illness; Eating disorders; Alcohol and Drug addiction; Gambling addictions; Addictions that prevent us from being free; Domestic violence; Dealing with Dysfunctional disorders in all areas of life; Troubled teens; Life transitions; Suicidal issues; Aids concerns; Diet issues; Mental issues needing medication; Anger Management; Motivational skill building; Self Improvement by achieving your potential; Understanding the power of truthfulness in solving conflict. I also arrange the Bible Studies conducted by the men themselves, every evening from 9:00 to 10:00PM. Co-ordinate volunteers for the men and women Bible Studies for the week end, and arrange special services. We have the privilege many times to assist residents in getting passes to be by the bedside of loved ones before they pass away. We then make sure they are home to attend the funeral of family members if they desire. We have the privilege to assist in finding programs and housing for those that need help in returning back into society. We need pray as do those who are residents/inmates in our Jails in Yakima County. We have 150 men and 34 women at the Restitution Center, 63 in the God Pod and 600 plus in the main County jail. These are all people that have broken the laws of man and we know that many more in the community have broken the laws of God. Men and women need to be reminded that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Roman 6:23. I would like all to know we need prayer and you can be assured we care about who you are, where you are in your relationship to the Lord. If I can help in any way feel free to call 972-8254 at any time. Blessing to you and your families as you continue to pray for the jail ministry here in Yakima.
