Achieving Your Potential

Part 3

Each of us has an image that is important for we have to take owner ship of, our self-image and as a Christian it is a battle 24 hours a day spiritually.

The only way God has assured us of a good self image is reading the Bible, for He created us for His purpose. When we understand what we are reading and accept it has the way, the truth and the life, our self image is positive. But when we do not read the Bible and listen to what men and women are saying, our self image is negative. It is not by man wisdom we think will of ourselves, for we are all sinning and hiding from something.

I not only read the Bible, but I pray, that is talking to God and letting Him talk to me. Prayer is the life line to heavens throne and I never want to cut myself off. He is ready to listen to my hurts and problems at any time and I have to keep connected. Praying without ceasing is what the Bible calls it. Prayer is the way I can let the Lord know Iím human and need help in every area of my life. Adam talked with God in the Garden, Eve talk to the serpent, or the devil in all his glory. Who we are talking to determines our self image. That is the reason for someone having a mental problem at birth, but is still able to have the Joy of the Lord radiating in his life. Or having an accident and becoming paralyzed, yet through it all have a very positive self image.

That is the reason Joseph did not fall for the trick of Pharaohs wife and lay with her, but ran. Prayer keeps one sensitive to the voice of the Lord and allows us not to fall into a trap, which destroys our self-image.

Our self image is also a result of who we are worshiping, God never feels like He canít, for He is all powerful, all seeing and all knowing, that is the reason we put our trust in God. That is also the reason we want to go to Church, as the Bible says, we should not forsake the assembling of our self in the House of the Lord. The Church is a gathering together of all Christians to worship God, singing unto the Lord and hearing the Word preached. It is a place for teaching, prophesizing, ministering to one another and fellowship. The Church is a place where we are able to try one anotherís spirits to see if they be of God, or not.

Not only is the Church interested in itís self, but the needs of all within the community, just as a Hospital, or School. Our image is enhanced as we build one another up in Love. It is a place for discipleship and discipline, that all will be done decently and in order.

Reverence is needed in our relationship to God and if we reverence God, we will have no problem reverencing one another and be able to pray for our enemies. Reverence is given to us by God so we can relax in the Lord.

Faith also comes from the Lord for without faith we can not begin to please the Lord. Faith gives us the hope and love that is so much needed for the truth of the Word. Faith is the life line we offer our prayers to our Father with. It is also the only way to heaven and all the gifts the Lord has in store for us now. Without faith we can read the Word and understand it. Faith allows us to worship and reverence the Lord. Our faith determines who we are and where we are going. Faith determines rather we are addicted to pleasure, or to God. Faith is seen by what is felt within our emotions, and lived out in our bodies.

I trust your seeing life is an inward battle.

Romans 12:1-2 (NKJV) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

It is not easy to present our bodies to the Lord for we like to control what we do and what we say. Lord help me to stay alive by dieing out to sin, so I can be holy and acceptable to you, oh! God. This is most reasonable to understand when we look at the wages of sin. Are we looking at what we are reaping from what we are sowing. Our world Governments Religions, and Economics are in a state of confusion, for we have lost the principle foundation for which we can build upon. The Church in many areas is just like the world and we are told not to be conformed to the world. Lord help me to know the difference and be different by showing those we meet they are loved.

Spiritual weapons are required if we are going to win the battle over the world note 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 (NKJV) 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.
4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,
5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

Can you see the basic needs of man have to be restrained, or we are walking in the flesh? It seems like society is more interested in themselves rather than the things of the Lord. Since we do not want to know the truth we argue over lies for the truth canít be argued with. Truth does not change, so God is the only one that can pull down the strong holds against what is wrong, as we accept His hand of Fellowship.  Addictions are real, for men love darkness more than light, and when we abide in the vine were able to see the lie that would so easily beset us.

Even our thoughts of righteousness are made fun of by the world, and we canít   back off from what God expects of us as Christians. So letís make sure we are walking with the Lord, in every area of our lives. We need to let the Lord Rule and reign over our lives, that we can achieve our potential.
