Acts 6 1-2 COMPLAINTS  E-mail
Contributed by Jerral Campfield
Friday, 01 November 2019

In chapter 6 we are going to see the discontent among the Disciples about the distribution of the public charity; the election and ordination. Of seven men to ease the apostles of the burden they carried. The increase of the Church and a look at the account of Stephen one of the seven and his activity for Christ and how he dealt with the enemies of Christianity. The crimes laid against him and how he accepted his trial.
Acts 6 New King James Version (NKJV)
Seven Chosen to Serve
Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists,[a] because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution. It is amazing how unhappy people can get about what is going on with in Churches, with the way they deal with money the bigger they get. Having been a part of this Church at the Harrah Assembly of God since 1936 when it was started our parents Ellis and Gladies Campfield were the orginal charter members and saw good solid growth. Dad was on the Board when the Church had to move from the Brownstown location between Evans and Progressive on Barks Road, where David and Margret Scott now live. This was not an easy move for many wanted to stay put and not go into Harrah back in 1955 when Rev Corneas Rentjies was Pastor with over 150 people present. I was  a graduate of White Swan High School were we started a Campus Life Youth for Christ group as a freshman and was the leader several years plus worked in the Church helping mom as Secretary of the Sunday School in Brownstown, helping collect the record books for attendance and the giving of offering at times with other youth. We had a youth group of over 30 kids. Never once did mom or dad talk about who gave and how much for it was kept in confidence. Then when I became Secretary Treasure of the Board after getting married to Virginia in 1957 never once did I let others know how much money was given. I remember never having abundance of Money and many times our Pastors had to wait to get a pay check. But it was always paid with many times more came in as love offering. I never heard any of our minister complain about how much money they made, but rejoiced in being able to minister to the people who attended. The most I can remember attending the Church was when Dean and Joann Rimemers was here who just Graduated from North West Bible Collage in 1559 as our Pastor preaching on Nehemiah building the walls around Jerusalem, seeing the church grow from 150 to over 200 in attendance. He started a local news paper every week to hand out to the community with the community helping pay for its printing, which gave our Church a strong testimony. This was a time of rejoicing, but also a time when our Church was shaken by the enemy. So as a Church we know what it is like to be shaken and come through as people put their hope, faith, to reverencing and worshiping the Lord, with a renewed effort in praying for one another. This was certainly not the first time this Church went through battles with Satan, for we began out of a revival in Wapato Assembly of God under Brother Waters Ministry, when the taverns were all closed down in Wapato. For the simple reason people where coming to the Church to get saved and full of the Holy Spirit, so no one was interested in drinking but drinking from the fountain that never ran dry. So Brother Johnny Manchester was asked to come out to Brownstown and start a Church and I remember being saved at a Revival Service when a Evangelist Robertson was the preacher and many were saved and fulfilled with the Holy Spirit speaking in tongues. This was a time when High School Students would come to Church and look in the windows to see what was happening as people were slain in the Spirit without a catcher. They said I was praying up on the stage next to a piano when it moved, so when I was stricken by the Spirit the Piano moved from the wall, so I did not hit the piano but landed softly down on the floor. So I had no problem with Acts two when the Holy Spirit over came those gathered in the upper room. We are not in control when God is in control, for He is and can keep one from getting hurt. Now we have people near by that are taught to help those falling under the power of the Holy Spirit and we question is it real. I wonder what we would think if a cloud leads us by day and a fire by night? Lord help us to remember, You do all thing decently and in order, so no one gets hurt. Remember in the fifth Chapter we saw how God took care of Annan’s and Sapphire and can certainly take care of us. It is a wonder to see the Church growing and It is our prayer that we will multiply in numbers to get peoples attention God is alive and real. I am convinced that God lead us hear and God has a purpose for all of us, as we are united in bring glory and honor to the Lord for what He is doing in our hearts.

It is easy for discord to enter any Church for that is the job of Satan to bring division. It all starts with mummering and complaining and it bring corruption preventing joy of God reigning. Remember Abraham and Lots families allowed strife between the herdsmen. So here a mummering begins where people reveal their true feeling. Lord help us to see the importance of it is God who we worship and have our being not of, works lest any one boast.  The old Testament believers spoke in the Greek version and not the original Hebrew, so when some believed God and started to worship, reverence and have faith to reverence God they saw their prayers answered. But here their where those that could not accept the way, truth and life that was being introduced to them and the Hellenist where apart of this group that where Greeks and had a language and culture and ethical system based on the Law and they keep alive the 15 Century classical learning of Europe with the death of Alexander the great in 323 BC. Here they are complaining about not ministering to the widows and this new Church was interest in the well fare of all its members. It seem, like it is impossible to satisfy the needs of all. Today we are seeing Hospital started by Christians and the greatest proof is the snake, which is symbolic of the time Moses had to make a Brazen snake for people to look at to be healed of the snake God cause the Children of Israel to be bitten by, when they complain in the wilderness. So the snake is symbolic of the Brazen healing power of the Hospitals around the world. Thank the Lord the Church is concerned with what is going on especially in the Body of the Lord and really does take care of its own. It is a common fault of poor people that, instead of being thankful for what is given them, they are querulous and clamorous finding fault that more is not given to them, so are envious and have a root of bitterness and are found among the poor and rich complaining. The Hebrews observed that a widow. Was to be maintained by here husband’s children 1 Timothy 5:4 But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show piety at home and to repay their parents; for this is good and acceptable before God
Isaiah 1:17 New King James Version (NKJV)
17 Learn to do good;
Seek justice, Rebuke
Seek justice,
Rebuke the oppressor;
Defend the fatherless,
Plead for the widow.
Plead for the widow.

All contained in the Law and now grace begins its work of Grace.

Luke 18:3 New King James Version (NKJV)
Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’
Justice is ours when we accept the fact we need to abide in the Lord and as we do, God is going to provide for us someway or somehow. God is not limited, but we sure are by our lack of understanding what is necessary to receive Gods blessing. So these Grecian widows were neglected by those who controlled the money. In the best order, Churches in the world, something will be amiss. Some will file grievance’s or complaints because they are not as rich as someone else. Lord help us to make sure we are doing all we can to address the needs that are in our community. TO BE CONTINUED
