We
are going to see the deplorable conditions of the Gentile world which begins
the proof that the doctrine of justification is by faith that Paul laid down in
Acts 1:17. Romans 1 New King James Version (NKJV) Greeting 1 Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an
apostle, separated to the gospel of God 2 which He
promised before through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures, 3 concerning
His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to
the flesh, 4 and declared to be the
Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection
from the dead. Notice
Paul calls himself a self a bondservant; that is one who is steward in the
house, that was called out by God out of bondage to Rome now under the
authority of God. Totally now given over to do God bedding dedicated to a task
from the task master God. Now bring good news to those lost and dying without
hope. He now is concerned with representing Christ not the government of man
but Gods Government, representing the Son of God Jesus. He shows his human nature
made of the seed of David, that is born of the house of David as was Joseph his
supposed father. David had a special promise made to him concerning the Messiah
a Kingly offer. He had a divine nature declared to be the Son of God by eternal
generation or as it is here explained according to the Spirit of God and His
holiness. What a testimony of God grace, love, mercy, sanctification, holiness
and purity in one who was persecuting Christian not a representative under the
authority of God Himself. 5 Through
Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all
nations for His name, 6 among whom you also are the
called of Jesus Christ; Here
we are seeing the fruit of abiding in the vine for God shows His grace to one
of His apostles that is obeying the Lord by his faith in God. He now is
employed by God in a work of service for Gods glory. Obedience is necessary to
get anything from God and Here God called Paul out of being a trouble maker to
a trouble solver as he obeyed the Lord. Working at obeying by faith God is
going to reward now. Obedience to faith answers the laws of faith. We are
connected to God like in a yoke with the Lord. So we are on the same level with
others of like precious faith. No respect of persons with God. We obey then we
are connected to walk and talk out our salvation. 7 To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints:
What a statement here
beloved of God all becoming Saints, 1. That is a privilege of Christians;
Beloved, members of His family or body. 2. It is our duty now to work be holy,
called to be saints so God can sanctify us as a peculiar people that love God
to be beloved called Saints. It is labour to answer to the name Christian. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the
Lord Jesus Christ. What
kindness shown here Grace to You and Peace for God our Father and Lord. God
created us for goodwill and peace now grace is an added benefit that bring
favor. Peace with God and peace with yourself is one of the benefits of
Salvation or abiding in the vine. Desire to Visit Rome 8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your
faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. It is good to begin everything with blessing
God. My God; very personal and that is what He wants from us He is mine and I
am His. So are you in His hand as you have faith. Paul had experienced what
people thought of other Christians and Paul wanted all to know they are
important and he loved them. You have to love someone if you expect them to
love you and God loves the world and craves people to love Him 9 For God is my
witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, that without
ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers, 10 making
request if, by some means, now at last I may find a way in the will of God to
come to you. Here
Paul is showing His respect for God knowing He knows all about us and desires
we do not hurt ourselves by hurting the Lord. I give or work at serving with
pleasure and I want the best for you all so I pray of you that I can come to
you. It seems like when we pray for others something happen to us that make one
feel needed or appreciated. 11 For I
long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may
be established— 12 that is, that I may be
encouraged together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me. Paul was a people pleaser
and wanted to share what he experienced God doing in his life to people that
may not have known him personally so they might be encouraged by what the Lord
showed Him before and what he is feeling now. So He was a witness of the power
of God where every he went and since he is in Rome now a wicked area he want to
share the love of God and the way God can protect and provide what is needed,
to grow one another faith. 13 Now I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that I often planned
to come to you (but was hindered until now), that I might have some fruit among
you also, just as among the other Gentiles. He is saying here I sure would like to have
seen you earlier but I was detained hindered, but now I want to see God hands
upon your lives so I can have some fruit among you, as I did among the
Gentiles. It is strange the harder one works the greater the end results and
here Paul was always working to make sure everyone heard the Gospel. 14 I am a debtor both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to wise and to
unwise. Paul
always seemed to feel like he was in debt to other for what he did and he felt
strongly that anyone could be saved, regardless of nationality or race, wise or
foolish in their thinking, 15 So, as
much as is in me, I am ready to preach the gospel to you who
are in Rome also. What
a commitment to a cause of preaching the gospel that is ready to go to work
presenting the way, truth and life to all in Rome. May we see everything that
has any value must be used and that takes work and Paul was a working making
tents to support his minister or working at keeping on track prepared to preach
anywhere at any time. Now he is getting ready to reveal his faith and how the
Just shall live by Faith. The
Just Live by Faith
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ,[a] for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. Now who would put their faith in a man that was hanged from a tree that was despised and spoken against yet Paul was not ashamed of who Jesus was or who he was now in Christ. When we are not ashamed one knows without a shadow of doubt you’re a follower of Jesus and now you’re not ashamed of the sins you’ve committed or of Christ. He now knows the way, truth and life of abiding in the vine; Jesus. For it is the power of God that convicts us of wrong doing that is full of shame. God prepared a medicine for mankind and all we have to do is take it. The Jews were the first to believe and the same doctrine was offered to all the world including Gentiles. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith. God is holy and righteous and mankind is unholy and that is we are all sinners. It is necessary we accept God righteousness by faith in Him so we can become appointed Chosen or ordained by Gods righteousness to live by faith in God so our spirits come alive and the soul and body follow what God says in His word. From faith to faith, we are revealed as sinners and as sinners we came to accept Jesus by faith He imparts to us. Everyone believe in something as Christians we believe in our creator God and what He has in store for us. We are dependent upon God and His righteousness and justice. We are engrafted into Christ allowing us to become like Him growing better and better in conduct, attitude and behavior. It is not faith to works as if faith saved us. It is increasing in faith pressing on going through the circumstances of life, not quitting and becoming discouraged, it is pressing on one step at a time. That is our hope the just shall live by faith in God not in faith and faith alone. People have faith in money, fame, things animals and a host of other things but our faith is in God alone to turn a rock into water, wet ground to dry ground, disappointment to encouragement, foolish to wise, broken to repaired and restored. This happens when we allow the Holy Spirit of God to come into our lives and guide us through the storms of life. It is not in what you know it is in who you know that gives one the empowerment to face the enemies of life. God’s grace is always present to justify us when our consciences is hurting God and ourselves. Our salvation is not proven by our works but by who we allow to work in our Spirits five senses; reverence, worship, hope and faith in God to answer our prayers. Then our souls five senses, conscience, imagination, memory, reason and affection are center around God goodwill and peace so our bodies five senses are under the control of God so our eyes, ears, mouth and nose are controlled by our feeling towards Gods love and we do not want to displease God by how we feel. It is God that condemns sin and His righteousness that give s us the feeling of justification. We are ok for we are abiding in the Loving arms of the who’s hands are outstretched to us still. God’s Wrath on Unrighteousness 18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. The wrath of God is revealed to all sin hurts and the light of God heals. I remember having Romantic Fever as a child of 12 and when I was sent home the doctor told my parents make sure I set out side in the open to absorb as much sunlight as possible for it has healing value so nature has healing power. Now God reveals the light of the Gospel to us and we have the healing power of the Lord to forgive us of sins that destroy our spirit, souls and bodies. We see here sin has two heads ungodliness and unrighteousness, ungodliness toward the law and now under grace unrighteous. It is so easy to feel like Satan; we do not need God; for we are as good as God and do not need anyone to tell us what to do. It seems like the closer we get to the end of time the godlessness is real, and anything goes. You do your thing and I will do mine do not bother me and I will not bother you. What a lie that can kill the spirit of God for He is always saying come follow me. That is total abiding in the Lord so He is able to help us deal with all the sins that surround us to bring us down. Thank the Lord for the way He shows us the way, truth and life by the experiences we have that are troubling to get us to think about who we are and where we are in this big world. God shows us His mysteries as we abide in Him so He can enlighten us and empower us for service. TO BE CONTINUED |
