Good Friday THAT CHANGED THE WORLD  E-mail
Contributed by Jerral Campfield

Last Friday was Good Friday the beginning of a new life. We are at the beginning of spring which is a new season in our valley. God created us all to have the ability to be born and become useful to society as we mature in the Lord. God gave us His Son Jesus to live among us to show He was the answer to all of our problems in life as we learn to abide in Him. He began his ministry being tempted of the devil in three ways.
1. Satan said make stones become bread, He said, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeded out of my mouth.
2. Satan takes Him up to a holy city to the highest spot and says cast yourself down so angels can take care of you. Jesus said It is written again, Thou, shalt not temp the Lord thy God.
3.  Satan takes Him to a very high mountain saying all you see I will give it to you, if you fall down and worship me. Jesus said Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou, shalt worship the Lord they God, and Him only shalt thou serve.
Then He is baptized by John the Baptist; cleanses the temple of evil, tuning over their table to stop the workings of the Devil, turning water to wine, that does not make you drunk, but empowers one for living the Life of Joy, peace and good will for all. He sees revival in Samaria and healing of the nobleman’s son, calls 12 disciples to follow Him. Heals the Demonic, Peters mother in law. Heals a leper, paralytic, then a man at the pool of Bethsaida is healed, heals a withered hand, Widows son raised to life, Parable of the two debtors, He sees opposition, talks about the unpardonable sin, talks about a personal relationship, Parable of rich man and Lazarus, Parable of the barren fig tree, wedding feast, leaven bread, wise steward, sower and reaping, Goodly pearl. Mustard seed, Drawing the net, sees the seas winds stilled, Jaris’s daughter raised from the dead, rejected at Nazareth, death of John the Baptist, Jesus walks on water, five thousand feed, bread of life taught, Rebuking Pharisees, Deaf and dumb man healed, feeding of four thousand, Blind man healed at Bethsaida, Peters confession of Christ. The transfiguration seeing Moses and Elijah by three of the Disciples. Healing of the ten lepers. The seventy sent forth, raising of Lazarus from the dead. Parable of the Lost coin, lost sheep, prodigal son, unjust Stewart, unjust judge, the second coming, discourse on divorce, Parable of the laborers, His suffering fortold, Healing two blind men, the triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Cursing the fig tree, cleansing the temple, Healing in the temple, His authority questioned, parable of two sons, wicked husbandmen, question of tribute money, the great commandment, the widows mite, prophesies of coming calamities, sign of coming events Parable to ten virgins, ten talents and the Plot of Judas. Now here we see Him in the Garden of Gethsemane with His Disciples Praying   Matthew 26
36 Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.” Here we see Jesus and the story of His agony the beginning of sorrow the clouds have gathered and it is getting dark as He was accepting what was before Him freely. Here he is in an olive grove where they pressed out olive oil at the foot of Calvary. Where He was soon going to be crushed for all believers.  37 And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. Here you see his favorites Peter James and John and left the rest at a distant. I am sure the Disciple knew what was going on for they never seen such a look on Jesus face.
Today can see the look of disappointment of what is going on in our world, for it is so hard to find the truth within the media, internet or any other means of communication it seems.
38 Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.” Jesus had just come from praying, now here is wanting to be alone, even through the three disciples where with Him at the transfiguration. It seems like those suffering the most in life, are those that have really had a touch of the Lord upon their lives. This sorrow was so great it was as if He was going to die under the pain. He is pouring out a disorder like water. Here Jesus is facing all the power of darkness of the world. He just wants to be alone.

39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will. Here He goes a little further and falls on His face praying Oh my Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. Nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will. He knows the heaviness of sins that where laid on Him, and charged upon Him and was very sorrowful and heavy. He saw the treachery of Judas the denial of Peter. He knew in a few minutes he would be arrested scourged spit upon, mocked and mutilated beyond recognition. Here He is alone knowing the cross was ahead of Him, and want this ordeal cup; to pass from Him, but He accept reality and returns to the Disciples.
40 Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? 41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” So He returns back to His disciples and finds them sleeping and speaking to Peter, for remember he was the one that said, “Lord never will I forsake you”. So is very point blank with him, Saying, what could you not watch with me one hour. Interesting for many times we do not show any interest in what is going on around us, as we see people hurting in so many different ways. We seem to be living in a world that is very sad, about what is going on that is causing so much sorrow and disappointment with in our families, school and even business of our area, but who cares. It is so sad to see the lack of pride with people living in filth and insanitary conditions right in our valley. Here the Lord saw what He was facing and even His followers were sleeping, not understand what was going to happen next. The Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak is still cause for much sorrow, to where only God can change the situation. Mental health, or any other recover programs are not taking care of our needs, for it is not man that created us, it is God that is still giving us the desire to become like Him.

42 Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless[e] I drink it, Your will be done.” Thank the Lord for the power of prayer to our Father God, for He cares for our world. Yet look around and we see very few people taking their concerns to the Lord. Now, it’s the second time He goes back to intercede for the needs of people, or the souls of those dying without any hope, And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy. Lord may we be awake to day to what we need to do to make sure we are staying connected to the Lord. It is a must for us to abide with Him, in order to be able to produce fruit of any kind. Lord help us to know the power in being together to just watch and see what God is going to do next, as we give ourselves to the Spirit of God. I am perplexed when I am studying the word of God and then begin to just wait and pray to the Lord, I get really sleepy and need to jar myself up, for there is not greater blessing than to know you have really prayed in earnest.
44 So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. Jesus had a tremendous patience with His disciples and wanted the best for them as well as all that choice Him. So now this is the third time He leaves them to pray by himself for all He is going through. As we seeing our world owning and using the internet around the world. Satan is using it to his advantage which is spreading non-truths more than any time in history. Then He came to His disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Here we see realty is upon Him and He comes back to the Disciples and finds them asleep and reveals to them, what is going to happen any time now.  Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand.” Imagination times vividness is not only felt by God as He is praying with signs of drops of blood coming from His pores like sweet. He knows reality hits Him for He can hear a group of people coming into the garden. He says to the Disciples lets be going for the betrayer is at hand. Here He is submissive to His Father Gods will, regardless of what that might be. He was a complete rest in what was about to happen and faces it head on let’s go. Not run; Lord help us to go, let others know. Of the Hope that is within us, so people are warned of the persecution that is ahead of us as a Church.

Betrayal and Arrest in Gethsemane
47 And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and elders of the people. What a picture of how important, it is when Jesus calls us we do not forsake Him. This. Is proof positive once saved always saved is never the case. God said to all I love you and want to ordain you that you go and bring forth good fruit that whatsoever you ask the Father, He may give it to you. Here Judas was chosen even handling the money, even was told at the last supper he was going to deny the Lord. Here he is leading the great multitude that have swords and spears in their hands. Here they were maybe guards Gentiles, sinners and servants of the High priest; Jews and variance with Jesus and His way, truth and life. This is mob mentality that we see yet around the world as many do not even know what they are doing or the reason they are protesting. Here they were not regular troops but a bunch of trouble makers. Ready to seize the lamb of God. They came with a warrant by Pilate the Roman Governor.
48 Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him.” You can see this man Judas who said, I will let you know who this man is by placing a kiss on him. Many of the people with Judas had never meet Jesus so needed help to identify Him. Remember Peter denied Jesus and look at Him turned and repented. Judas looks at Him and kisses him. He know doubt said, Hail Master as he planted the kiss on Jesus. 49 Immediately he went up to Jesus and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him. What a scene a Disciple coming to Jesus with respect calling Him Rabbi teacher than kissing Him. Lord help us to see what many people are doing today that even knowing the Lord but turning away from His teaching of purity and holiness and doing whatever they want with no urgency of rejecting the truth of God words. This Easter season may we see people come to Church and let the Holy Spirit of God speak to their souls so they can be transformed, renewed and born again wanting to love the Lord, so they can obey Him and not reject the one that created them loveing them by showing that love, as He died upon the cross to take away our sins, now and forever as we repent and more on out into the water of life.
50 But Jesus said to him, “Friend, why have you come?” Jesus did not show bitterness or anger but called him friend, remember He called Peter Satan, and it spurred Peter to love the Lord and Judas still does not repent, but goes his way. Jesus said why have you come?
Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and took Him. Judas does not get to give an answer. 51 And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
52 But Jesus said to him, “Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish[f] by the sword. 53 Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? 54 How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?”
55 In that hour Jesus said to the multitudes, “Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs to take Me? I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple, and you did not seize Me. 56 But all this was done that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.”
Then all the disciples forsook Him and fled.
Lord help us to understand we cannot fight with instrument of war but need to know how to use the tongue of the Holy Spirit you gave us to communicate with you when You went to heaven. The Church needs to experience the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to let others know Jesus save, keeps and satisfies as we abide in Him.
