ACHIEVING YOUR POTENTIAL CONTINUED  E-mail

I am continuing the topic of achieving your potential for I know we all struggle with who we are, where we are and where we are going after death. So let look to see, we have a big problem with our self-image and how we see ourselves by the way we preform and act according to how we see others, and how they evaluate themselves and others. We saw how our self- talk affirms who we are as we self talk.
Can you see how powerful self-talk is in structuring self-image or self-esteem?

Sin is a source of dissatisfaction Ecclesiastes 2:11 and Isaiah 44:20
Sin is the source of unrest, no peace, emptiness and vanity.
Note Deuteronomy 28:67; Job 15:20; Psalms 107:17; Proverbs 13:15; Romans 3:16; and James 5:1

VI. Faith not in self but in God secures ones self-esteem:
Note John 3:15 & 36; 5:24; 11:25; 12:46; 20:30 and Romans 10:9.
VII. Awareness is simply the clarity with which we perceive and understand everything that affects our lives.
1. Awareness limited; thought pattern limited.
2. Be aware of our own natural limitations in the world of reality and how to expand awareness of opportunities to develop full potential.
3. Don’t lock out reality.
A. No two people have the exact same level of awareness; we all perceive the same world, but we all interpret what we see differently.
4.  Awareness is the combination of all things since birth to
    Death.

Questions:
1. What causes people too never fully be aware of all that’s around them?
2. What the reason for some seeing new opportunities?
3. Are some people luckier than others?
4. What cause some to be open to new ideas and innovative projects?
VIII. List some ways awareness is limited or distorted?
1. Natural limits.
A. Sight-sound or hearing-smelling-tasting-touching.
2. Helps in making us aware.
A. Eye glasses bifocals.
B. Hearing aids.
C. Micro chips for the heart.
D. Artificial limbs for the body.
3. We can’t take or tolerate total awareness to all stimuli in our environment. We would be bombarded by thousands of sensory messages constantly and would not be able to handle them all.
4. We have a DATA Reduction or filtering system of data at work in our lives. This is a group of cells in the brain, which monitors sensory messages given to it. It’s a natural filtering device that allows only “Personally Profitable Data or Information and Threats” to get through to us. It allows us to receive only the messages of information that have Pay Value.
A. Pay Value.
1. Knowing what you want before we become aware of “How to get it”.
a. Example a new house.
b. An exact new job.
c. Exact amount of money.
We need to get a clear picture of exactly what is information stored there.
B. Picture your wants and the pay value to you.
1. Self-Denial--Matthew 16:24; Luke 14:26 & 27; Romans 8:23, 15:1; Galatians 5:24.
2. Subdue normal fleshly lust—Matthew 5:29; Romans 6:6; Colossians 3:5.
C. Be- aware of Lock on Lock out Principles.
1.   Once we lock on to a principle, opinion, belief or an attitude we find it difficult to see or understand the truth.
2. Locking on to the “Truth”, as we perceive it causes us to develop scotomas to new truth. (Blind spots)
3. Makes change difficult because of past experiences.
4. Attachment to friends, vocation, social prejudices, life styles and habits some times causes no growth.
D. List things that hinder you from seeing the  “TRUTH”.
1. Lock out areas.
a. New options.
1. Personal life
2. Vocations
3. Social Life.
4. Spiritual life
5. Other areas.
2. Stretch self to new goals new ideas in order to grow.
3. The Clearer and vividly one imagines things in your New Life environment, with frequent repetitions and emotional impact, the stronger and more real the picture on the sub-conscious will rise.

Jesus is immutable;  incapable of changing or being modified, inalterable, inflexible, invariable, ironclad, rigid, unalterable, unchangeable.
Hebrews 1:12, 13:8; and James 1:17.

Colossians 3 and Philippians 3:4-20 need to be put into practice; stretching self to new goals, and ideas in order to grow and grow as we see change.
A. `What is your motivation?
1. Constructive.
2. Restrictive.
3. Destructive?
Nothing magical, or mystical, about learning more potential, no great secrets; just plain hard work.
The matter of Constructive Motivation is I want to, rather than I have to, which is restrictive. I trust we can see the pay value as doing everything as unto the Lord. It produces happiness and success, regardless of the circumstance.
We need to move with the great desire toward the Lord and what He has in store for us as we reach out to our potential.
1. Achieving your potential constructive is understanding who you are.
1. What is motivation? Latin verb; “Movere” meaning to move. It’s an intense drive that causes action or a reason to act or behave. Need is a lack of something good and a drive is a tendency to act in order to fill that need.
Romans 8:13; 6:6; 13:14. Galatians 6:16; Colossians 3:5; 1 Peter 2:11 and 1 Peter 4:2
2. Restrictive = Primarily based on:
1. Have To’s.
2. Fear, coercion and pressure make us act or perform. Do it or else. God said to man in the beginning of time. Genesis 2:17 but of the tree of knowledge of good and evil thou shalt not eat. For the day you do thou shalt die! Genesis 3:3 Don’t even touch it. RESTRICTIVE do not eat or touch or you will die. FEAR was removed, Satan had a foot hold he assured man it was OK! You will not die, you’ll be like God. You will know, good from evil. What A LIE! Man saw, desired, took and gave then after it was all done they both hide. Man feared God’s judgement
1. List five ways you act because of fear.
a.
b.
c.
d.
e..
Fear can be psychological, do it, or else you’ll be rejected, ridiculed, embarrassed, or humiliated as a person. What happen to man when he ate? He hide. God said, where art thou Adam. Adam said, I hear your voice, I’m afraid. He was caught red handed because he was naked, he did not follow the rules, he disobeyed. Restriction was gone, disobedience was in effect. Sin was reality. When we restrict or push we take personal accountability and force God behavior.
Was God pushing man not to eat of the fruit? NO! Just warning of wrong behavior. Man chooses to listen to either God or Satan. Go ahead be like God is what man wanted and still desires. Fear was replaced by confidence, assurance in wrong, because man didn’t recall or examine reality in him self.
1 Corinthians 11:28, 13:5 and Psalms 26:2.
2. Restrictive motivated people must constantly be pushed.
a. Make me. Move Me.
1. They give accountability, fix blame on someone else, and constantly find excuses, like drive me and push back.
2. With holding is a characteristic.
a. Man, Adam blamed women.
b. Women, Eve blamed the serpent.
Have we changed when we do something wrong?
List some of the things you get back at people who have wronged you?
II. Invest in Excellence
1. Man’s basic premise: We act, work, produce and behave not in accordance with the truth, but only the TRUTH as we see it to be.
2. God’s basic premise: We act, work, produce and behave according to our acceptance of HIS TRUTH IN HIS WORD. John 15:6; Proverbs 12:19.
A. Do I see the truth or do I have blind spots?
1. Perception of Truth.
2. Cognitive Dissonance-restraint and contradictory conflicting opinions and beliefs.
3. God’s Word never changes, it’s the bases of all truth.
B. What is your self-image? The total you and your beliefs.
1. Who do you visualize becoming like? God or Man?
2. Habits and attitudes.
1. We all need a simulator. (Like the real thing)
2. Rationalization is it logical and justifying?
a. Doctors who smoke, ministers who cheat; etc.
3. Born in sin = Change comes by being born again. John 3:5-8.
3.   Comfort zones are needed by all.
1. Eliminates anxiety and stresses.
a. How does it come?
1. Self Talk. Commitment to the Lord.
2. Meditating on the Word of God. 1 Timothy 4:15’ Psalms 119:97

b.     How do we perform?
1. Low self esteem-man centered.
2. High Self Esteem-God centered regardless of the circumstance.
b. Motivational factors.
1. Order-what is “right” not only for you but for others. Mark 12:31; Romans 13:10, 15:1-2 and Galatians 5:14
c. Energy flows inside from what we see and read, to out side. Garbage in Garbage out.
d. Set goals and purpose. As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.
2. Construction and Restrictive Motivation.
1. I HAVE TO.
2. I WANT TO.
   Who said we couldn’t?
Affirmation and Visualizing.
1. Present reality predetermines outcome (What’s your Intent?”)
2. Where are you heading? Words+picture+feelings=life.
a. Vivid and big picture what is it?
One can begin to see how important it is we see things in the light of eternal values in view-Heaven or Hell.
Let’s see some goals in life and become accountable unto God for what we do and what we say. Let’s start now and not put off what needs to be done to make life better for all now. Life is ongoing and what we do let’s do it quickly.
Let’s give our lives to the Lord and let Him modify us to where we are able to reach our potential in all areas of our lives. That takes a commitment  to obey His Word, not because I have to, but want to love and obey Him. Realizing we can’t do it ourselves we need the Lords help. He is the answer to all our problems. I want to be constructive based on what I want to do, for then it will bring pay value to who you are, and who your becoming like.
What is the incentive? Being rewarded in satisfaction and peace of mind that is will with my soul. Attitude becomes, Yes I can through Jesus Christ which strengths me. That’s personal satisfaction the World can’t give. I can see it, I can prove it, and I want more of Jesus in my life.
I CHOSE TO FOLLOW THE LORD! I CHOSE TO ALLOW HIM TO SET ON THE THRONE ROOM OF MY HEART! I CHOSE TO OBEY GOD NOT MAN! I WANT TO; NOT HAVE TO. CONSTRUCTIVE MOTIVATED PEOPLE ARE SELF- STARTERS.
1. ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHO YOU ARE WHERE YOU ARE!
2. LOOK FOR SOLUTIONS NOT EXCUSES.
3. HAVE TREMENDOUS DRIVE.
4. MOVE FORWARD WITH DIGNITY HONORING AND PREFERRING OTHERS.
The Christian life is compared to an athletic contest, foot race, or boxing. It’s a battle of life for life eternal in heaven or hell. We are lost sinners Romans 3:23 and when we realize the wages of sin is death Romans 6:23, but the gift of God is eternal life, we confess as Romans 10:9 say. We become new creation and are saved Romans 10:13 by trusting Him, leaning not on our own understanding but in Gods ability to allow us to reach our potential.
